Waiting on Wednesday - Two

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine. This is my Twisted Symphony version where I'll put an upcoming album or movie (or both) instead of a book. (The book will be posted on my other blog Camisado Mind.) Last week I did an upcoming album, this week I'm going to do a movie!

Life As We Know It
In theaters October 8th.

Starring:
Katherine Heigl - Holly Berenson
Josh Duhamel - Eric Messer
Josh Lucas - Sam
Melissa McCarthy - DeeDee

Director:
Greg Berlanti

Writers:
Ian Deitchman, Kristin Rusk Robinson

Two single adults become caregivers to an orphaned girl when their mutual best friends die in an accident. (imdb.com page here)

I have been seeing the trailer for this movie on every network and I still laugh or get emotional....This movie is high on my "to-see" list. I usually wait for movies to come to DVD & watch then, but I may just go see this one in theaters.

I love Katherine Heigl & I hate that she's not on Grey's Anatomy anymore. Josh Duhamel in When in Rome alongside Kristen Bell was adorable. And of course I love him in the Transformers movies!

Album Review: "Can't Take That Away From Me" by JoJo

Can't Take that Away from Me
by JoJo

Tracklisting:
1. “Can’t Take That Away From Me”
2. “Running on Empty”
3. “Pretty Please”
4. “Why Didn’t You Call”
5. “Just a Dream”
6. “When Does It Go Away” featuring Travis Garland
7. “My Time Is Money”
8. “What You Like”
9. “In the Dark”
10. “Boy Without a Heart”
11. “All I Want Is Everything”

JoJo has been seemingly off of the map for nearly five years now. Her sophomore album The High Road went platinum with the number one song "Too Little Too Late", but her second single "How To Touch a Girl" didn't get the same reception and things went a little south.
After a long incessant battle with her record label, many leaked songs & many different style changes, JoJo was able to bring out a mix tape to hold us over until the release of her third album All I Want is Everything. Which still does not have a release date.
The eleven songs on this album range from pop to hip hop to R&B to soulful-heartfelt music. There's going to be at least one song you'll like (hopefully love)!

A music video was released for the single "(I Only Know Him) In the Dark" which you can watch and listen to by watching the video at the bottom of this post. "In the Dark", which JoJo wrote solo a strikingly real song about love and sex and the very thin line between.

JoJo wrote and co-wrote every song on this mixtape--except "When Does it Go Away"--and has said that she's writing songs for her album as well as for other people. Can't wait to hear those.

From a mix of live instruments to computer generated sounds, this album is a definite eclectic compilation of JoJo's many musical influences and styles. And her very wide vocal range is being heard throughout the entire album.

The one song I just cannot get into no matter how many times I listen to it is "My Time is Money." I just don't care for it. I can't really put my finger on it. But some of the others took me awhile to like, others I loved immediately. A good friend of mine--Derrek--loves that song and has mentioned he'd like a music video....not me!

The title song to her next album "All I Want is Everything" is also featured on this mixtape and I love it. It definitely has Jill Scott/Erykah Badu vibe that I thoroughly enjoy.

Some of the songs I'm still listening to and getting used to, but I already have my favorites.
(faves: Can't Take that Away From Me, Running on Empty, Just a Dream, Boy Without a Heart and All I Want is Everything.)

The song "Can't Take That Away From Me" was leaked a few months before the mixtape was released and I absolutely love it. It has a fun vibe with strong female independent influences.

You can download the entire mixtape FOR FREE at Rap-Up.com!!
(if you have trouble downloading the mixtape--like I did--let me know.)

Waiting on Wednesday - One

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine. This is my Twisted Symphony version where I'll put an upcoming album or movie (or both) instead of a book. (The book will be posted on my other blog Camisado Mind.)

Taylor Swift's upcoming album Speak Now will be released on Oct. 25th, 2010 which features the already number one single "Mine".
Favorite line from "Mine" is "you made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter." ♥

I love her second album--Fearless(especially that song)--but I hope some of these songs have more of a country sound than pop. Because I hated the pop, radio edited songs.
This is the first of Taylor's albums where each song is completely written by here. :)
I'm not a huge fan of that cover, I love the fonts, love the purple dress and love the sparkles....but for some reason it doesn't go too well. May be her facial expression. But it's an album I'll be purchasing anyways! :)

Tracklisting:
1. "Mine"
2. "Sparks Fly"
3. "Back to December"
4. "Speak Now"
5. "Dear John"
6. "Mean"
7. "The Story of Us"
8. "Never Grow Up"
9. "Enchanted"
10. "Better Than Revenge"
11. "Innocent" - MTV VMA performance here
12. "Haunted"
13. "Last Kiss"
14. "Long Live"

Meet Me on Monday - One

Meet Me on Monday is hosted by Never Growing Old and it's a meme for bloggers to get to know each other one Monday at a time.

This week's questions:
1. What is your favorite all time movie?
Eep! This is hard! I have a few movies that I can watch over and over again like; The Professional, The Notebook, Crossroads, Twilight, and Finding Nemo. But my favorite movie of all time has to be Beauty and the Beast. I still love it & sing along to every song even now. And this is my favorite scene. (I'm actually kind of tempted to watch the movie now. lol.)

2. How often do you go over the speed limit?
I don't drive. I'm an awesome loser like that. :) No car. I don't really want one right now, but I know that I'll need one soon.

3. What really gives you the creeps?
I have been around so much nasty stuff that not much really creeps me out. HOWEVER....spiders *shudders* creep me out!! I hate hate hate them! And no I am not looking for a picture. We all know what they look like.

4. What is your favorite snack?
Hmm, I love to snack, so I'll snack on anything as long as it's good. I like taking some of my favorite potato chips and mixing them up in a Ziploc baggy. My favorite potato chip right now is Baked Lay's Cheddar and Sour Cream in Regular or Ruffles.

5. Would you rather be a dog named Killer or a cat named Fluffy?
A kitty! I have had dogs my entire life & we get along....but I loveee cats!
I believe in reincarnation...so maybe I was on in a past life. Ha. P.S. I want a cat that looks just like that one --»
